VEMU’s 6th Fundraising Dinner

April 30, 2017
6 pm
Tartu College, 310 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON M5S 1W4

Sunday, April 30th at 6pm at Tartu College, VEMU will be hosting its 6th Fundraising Dinner. In Estonia, 2017 has been announced as the Year of Children and Youth Culture. This year values children and youth as creators as well as an audience. The solgan is “Mina ka!” (Me too!) and the key words being yourself and working together, are meant to encourage children and youth to take part in their culture and create their own experiences.

For this occasion the author, translator, and librettist Leelo Tungal will be visiting VEMU from Estonia. She is particularly loved and valued for her works dedicated to children. Leelo Tungal is also the Editor in Chief for the Estonian children’s magazine “Hea Laps” (Good Child). Leelo Tungal will be speaking on the topic of This Little Land Here Under the Northern Sky. The speech will be in Estonian with an English translation available.

The ensemble “The Fakebook Four” will be playing lively jazz music to set the mood (Evi Heinar – piano, Vincent Teetsov – drums, Selcuk Suna – saxophone, clarinet, Toomas Heinar – bass).

Dinner will be prepared by Toronto chefs Alanna Fleischer and Brian Cheng from the catering company The Edible Story. Sparkling wine and appetizers will be served at 5:00pm in the lobby and dinner will take place at 6:00pm.

Tickets: $150. $75 from the ticket price will be donated to VEMU and a tax receipt will be provided.
