Tuesday, February 16 at 7pm

Link to the event HERE.

Piret Voolaid is a Senior Researcher in the Department of Folkloristics at the Estonian Literary Museum and the Executive Manager of the Centre of Excellence of Estonian Studies. In her lecture, she will be discussing the ongoing School Lore Collection Competition for Canadian Estonians, as well as her past collection projects of the same theme. Organized in conjunction with the Estonian Literary Museum and VEMU, the current School Lore Competition is collecting written anecdotes from Canadian Estonians of all ages about their school days, ranging from topics such as jokes and games to fears, beliefs and predictions. The collection is open to submissions from both current and past students. After hearing more about the School Lore project, we hope you will also feel inspired to share your memories and anecdotes.

The 2021 School Lore competition is devoted to the memory of Edgar Marten. Submissions are welcome from current students as well as previous students and school employees. Deadline for submissions June 1, 2021. The most comprehensive submissions will be awarded with prizes! See more info at www.folklore.ee/kp
