“Kodust kaugel – Far From Home” A Concert by ensembles “Võlukeeled” and “Trumm-It”

On Tuesday, July 28th, 7 pm at Tartu College will be the concert “Kodust Kaugel – Far From Home”. Performers are Tallinn’s Vanalinna Music School’s violin ensemble “Võlukeeled”, percussive group “Trumm-It” and pianist, Maila Laidna. 

Formed in 2012, the violin ensemble, “Võlukeeled” is composed of 23 youth of ages 4-21 years. Studying violin in the Suzuki method, they perform classical repertoires along with traditional folk, pop and salon music. 

In 2011, while Tallinn was chosen as the European Capital of Culture, “Trumm-It” began as an ensemble for underpriveleged youth. In Toronto, they will perform “Percussive Society” which will include a variety of percussive instruments as well as dancing.

Performing a solo piece, will be “Võlukeeled” ensemble’s director, Maila Laidna who has finished her masters degree with honour, from the Estonian Academy of Music. 

Admission is by donation, to support the young musicians.
