Book release “Eye-Catcher. The Life and Work of Vello Muikma”

Wednesday, September 28th at 7pm at Tartu College, the book Pilgupüüdja. Vello Muikma elu ja looming /Eye Catcher. The LIfe and Work of Vello Muikma will be released. V. Muikma’s students, friends, and the author of the book, Ellu Maar from Estonia (via Skype), will be speaking.

In English. Coffee and kringel.

Vello Muikma (1920-2008) was a Toronto Estonian, who established his own photo studio at the end of the 1950s and thus, became a freelance photographer. During the time of the rapidly growing artistic advertising market, Muikma specialized in commercial photography. Muikma was able to become one of Toronto’s best in his field. Muikma also taught photography at OCAD.

The book brings the reader Muikma’s photographic inheritance, which belongs to the Museum of Estonians Abroad’s (VEMU) archival collections. The richly illustrated book is in both Estonian and English.
